It's a nice sunny warm weekend in Holland (Finally!) On Sunday, we decided to go to the "beach"...i call this a "beach" since beaches in the Philippines are way better, but for Holland, it was actually nice.
We went to Den Haag, to go to this popular area called Scheveningen. I was here last year during winter time and there was absolutely no one there at all (because it was so cold!) but today it was packed with people (too much people actually), but i felt at home. I still had some culture shock to see so many women are sunbathing topless! It not my first time to see them, but usually women who sunbath topless go to a more secluded part of the beach, but here, they were out everywhere, not minding that there were children around playing, tourists walking, boys ogling. I guess its just natural and normal here.
Afterwards we went cycling towards to whole coast of scheveningen, towards the dunes and nature reserve area--up until the hoek van holland. we cycled for about 2 hours...i'm really enjoying cycling here in holland (even if my butt and legs get tired). Overall it was a wonderful day to be out!

sick

this week i have emotion fatigue.
after 4months i am starting to get homesick. :(
it gets lonely here sometimes. f is nice and helpful
but sometimes its not enough.
i miss my mom, my brothers, my dad, my friends in manila
and just hanging out in cubao, talking about films,
complaining about the politics and showbizness and traffic
in manila, doing pre-production for a film, gossipping about
filmmakers and their films, shooting films on location, the
chaos of everything in manila.

i have a very good life here, right now, but sometimes i do miss you guys.
and its not the same. :(

fosti retro scooters

We rented a vespa-type scooter for the weekend to go around dordrecht and breda. very smooth ride! the scooter is called a fosti--and the place was actually selling the retro scooters, but f charmed his way to the owner to let us rent a demo unit so we can try it first (as f was obsessing on buying one to use to go all the way to germany! which I think is tiring). So it was good! But now we decided it was a nice ride to go around Breda and short distances but too exhausting to use for farther distances.
But i look good on it though!

Jeonju Film Festival, South Korea

I went to South Korea for a week for Jeonju Film Festival. They were showing my films, Manila, Aurora and Raya's 3 short films, Bakasyon, Life Projections and Long Live Philippine Cinema.
I love Korean food! It was also nice to see my friends, John and Lav and also some of my filmmaker friends around the world. Here are some sights from Korea, c/o the Flip camera we were testing--that was given by Cisco, sponsored by the school.

for one day in holland, everywhere becomes one big flea market! you can sell all your old stuff here and really get very good bargains!
we got our espresso machine last year for 4.50 euros and it is making wonderful espresso and capuccino coffee!
