karting saturday

We went go-karting today at lot66 (lot66.nl) with some of our colleagues and i havent driven for a long time, i basically was the slowest one and bumped into almost everybody and crash twice in the track! But it was fun!

golf sunday

so today, fritz and steve decided to check out golfing here in breda, and forced me to come along (i dont know how to play golf!) we found a golf place which didnt require us to be members, in effen, just outside of breda. when we arrived, we tried to rent golf clubs and golf shoes, but unfortunately they didnt rent shoes, so we decided to just go to the driving range and practice for a bit.

twice cooked adobo sunday

twice-cooked chicken adobo is a success!
i was craving for filipino food, so after cycling for 3 hours on a nice warm autumn sunday weather, i decided to cook adobo---and tried to find a twice cooked adobo recipe online.
i revised the recipes a little bit, as i found a lot online and decided to use what i already have in our kitchen.

twice cooked adobo recipe:
400g chicken breast cut into cubes
chopped garlic
light soy sauce
chili (chinese chili in a bottle)- i like everything spicy
bay leaves
vinegar (what we had was italin azijn vinegar)
peking sauce (we had this, so i decided to use it)

1. i put chicken all the ingredients together in a bowl, marinated it for about an hour.
2. afterwards, in low fire, i had everything simmered in a pot for about 30-45 minutes (taking out the garlic). the sauce shot become a bit thick and dry.yum
3. then i took out the chicken, and set aside the pot with sauce.
4. in a pan, i sauted the remaining garlic and put the chicken for a bit of frying.
5. then i put the chicken on a plate and put the sauce all over it.

and here it is! i love adobo! f loved it!promise, it tastes better in person than here on the pic.

Please come and watch the film "Amigo", directed by American director John Sayles. Fully shot in Bohol, Philippines. I line-produced this film before I left for Holland.This is the last production I was involved in the Philippines.
It showing now in Toronto, San Sebastian, London Film Festival and will be shown in the Philippines by February next year. I am very proud of this film as it was a full Filipino-American co-production. The director John Sayles and his wife/producer Maggie Renzi are wonderful People. Co-producers, Joel Torre and Mario Ontal were wonderful as well.

weekend trip to germany

we went to flekenbert, schmallenberg germany to see Fritz's roots, his ancestors lived in this small village. we decided to spend the weekend there. we found lots of kohle's!

And of all places, we found a german-philippine snack place in the middle of nowhere--winterberg germany! funny really!

IBC weekend

So today, we went to Amsterdam to the IBC International Broadcasting Convention---to see the new toys/technological gadgets for electronic broadcasting.



The big thing now is everyone is on 3D! Look at these cameras!





Even the little canon 1ccd cameras can do 3D now!

dutch spa

going to a dutch or german spa (therme sauna) always doesnt fail to shock me. being brought in a conservative asian nation, we were always taught to dress conservatively--even bikinis are a no-no, unless you have a really great body--or you are ok to be stared and ogled at.
but going to a mixed spa where men and women share the same dressing room, toilet, walking around naked, going together naked in a sauna, swimming naked and even walking naked outdoors---it takes getting used to---but also feels very liberating, especially when there is no malice involved and it is just natural to be doing it.
it was also my first time to have a male masseur! (a man and a cute one at that) do a massage for me. It felt weird, but at the same time i just told him---just massage my back and shoulders please! and it was still a good massage, but of course i was so conscious of myself and kind of thinking of maybe he will try to touch my boobs or something, but of course he was a professional and it was a nice normal massage. i actually felt more pampered than usual.

but i do not think i am ready to see a colleague in a spa yet. that would indeed be weird!
